Pelosi gets smart...
Obama's National Security policy - Don't count Cheney out
- In his effort to promote transparency, and over the objections of five CIA directors, including Leon Panetta, who he had appointed, Obama released highly classified memos describing the limits of our interrogation methods but he refuses to release the memos that will show that these interrogations prevented terror attacks. He claim that he had to release the memos in compliances with a court order, yet he defied a court order to release photos from investigations of detainees and correctly so.
- On his 3rd day in Office, Obama signed an executive order to freeze the prosecution of terror detainees by military commissions a procedure that had been established by the Bush administration. This week, Obama reinstated the military commissions with a few cosmetic modifications. Yet, in his Thursday speech, Obama claimed that this was a mess left him by President Bush. He fails to realize that President Bush left him a country that was on the offensive against terror organizations – a policy that has kept this country safe from their attacks for almost 8 years since 9/11.
- The Geneva Conventions do not apply to all prisoners of war. To qualify for full protection under the Geneva Conventions, combatants must wear uniforms, carry arms openly and adhere to the laws of war. Terrorists, of course, fail these tests!
- Bringing terrorist to justice in our Federal court system is impractical as well. In most cases, confessions and other evidence against them were obtained without granting Miranda rights, so the court will have to suppress such evidence.

Dianne Feinstein defends bringing Gitmo detainees to the US

The Senate, today, voted to deny President Obama's request of $80 million for the closure of Gitmo and Democrats joined Republicans in warning about the dangers of transferring detainees to US soil. However, Senator Dianne Feinstein, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee was running against the grain of her fellow Democrats by speaking in favor of bringing these suspected terrorists into the US, notwithstanding testimony, by Homeland Security and the FBI as to the dangers of such move.

Biden did it again....

Well. This time, VP Biden really outdid himself. When he attended a diner at the Gridiron Club earlier this year, the VP disclosed to people at his table the existence of a highly confidential bunker under the old Naval Observatory. The bunker is where the VP stays in the event of national emergency and that's where Vice President Dick Cheney staid after the 9/11 attacks. Biden said a young naval officer took him on a tour of the secret hideaway and went on to describe that there is a heavy metal door with a complex lock at its entrance and that the hallway was lined with shelves, loaded with communications equipment.
Most recently, in a televised interview, he said that people should stay away from public transportation to avoid swine flu...
I think that he should be gagged when he lives the house....

Cap-and-Tax
So, what is Cap-and-Trade? 85% of Americans don't understand what Cap-and-Trade means. US Congressman John Dingell, a Democrat from Missouri, actually provides the best answer to this question. He said "Nobody in this country realizes that Cap-and-Trade is a new tax and it's a great big one" In fact, it should be called Cap-and-Tax because we will all pay for it.
The plan is for the government to regulate energy production and the use of fossil fuels across our entire economy. This is a huge new government mandate. The government plans to cap or limit the amount of greenhouse gases that companies can emit. Companies that will exceed the limit will have to buy permits - from the government of course. This will hit energy companies especially hard, since half of our nation's electricity is produced with coal and another 30% is produced from other fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas. Now, make no mistake about this. These additional costs will be passed to you - the consumer. You will pay more for electricity; you will pay more for products made in factories because their energy costs will skyrocket; you will pay more for just about everything because just about every economic activity involves the use of fossil fuels!
President Obama himself told the San Francisco Chronicle, in January of last year: "So, if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them because they will be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted. You know, under my plan of Cap-and-Trade system, electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket."
White House aids have told Senate staffers that the plan could raise as much as $2 trillion in revenues for the government. That's a tax!!! the year cost to the American family is estimated at $2000-$3000.

Military Tribunals resumed
"As President, I will close Guantanamo and reject the Military Commission Act". This was Obama's unadorned promise on the campaign trail. Indeed, in his first days in the White House, Obama signed an Executive Order to close Guantanamo within a year and suspend the military tribunals for 120 days.Four months later, the complex realities of handling the 241 remaining Guantanamo prisoners have given Obama a nasty reality check. In a very hush hush meeting at the White House Situation Room, on Thursday, it became clear that the administration could not find an alternative to the military tribunals and, on Friday, administration officials announced they were resuming trials of suspected terrorists by military commissions.
While this is happening, the planned closure of Guantanamo is facing mounting opposition on both sides of the aisle in Congress. The issue if resettling some of these suspected terrorist is raising grave concerns across the country as articulated by State and Federal lawmakers.
"By releasing trained terrorists into civilian communities in the United States the administration will, by definition, endanger the American people," warned Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell. Obama's own party is not cooperating either. Democrats recently stripped out of the military budget bill $94 million earmarked for relocation of Guantanamo prisoners, telling the president they will reconsider when he puts a concrete plan on the table. Senator Max Baucus, a senior Democrat, said: "We are not going to bring Al Qaeda to Big Sky County. No way! Not on my watch!"
At issue are approximately 80 Guantanamo prisoners that can be released but no country has agreed to take them.
Well, Mr. Obama, you showed that you have the courage to reverse your policies when faced with reality. There are many more unrealistic policies on your agenda and we hope that you will be man enough to change them too.
Do not close Guantanamo! We don't want these people to endanger our families or our troops on Iraq and Afghanistan!
Political payback?
Officials of the Service Employes International Union (SEIU) said that the SEIU spent $85 million in support of the Obama campaign last year and, in-spite of the financial difficulties that union now finds itself in (they had to borrow $25 million), it was well worth it. The Obama administration has appointed union officials to top posts in the White House and the administration is is backing legislation to make it easier for workers to organize. "SEIU is on the field, it's in the White House, it's in the administration," said Andy Stern, SEIU President. But I thought that the Obama administration would rid Washington D.C. from special interest groups?...
ENOUGH!!!

The Pelosi fiasco is not dying. In shear stupidity Pelosi deepens the hole she has dug for herself by continuing to give interviews and is now claiming that the CIA lied when they briefed her - one time - in September of 2002 and that they are lying now, in saying that she was briefed numerous times and that enhanced interrogation techniques were discussed in detail in those briefings, especially as they pertained to Al Quaeda operative Abu Zubaydah.
Even her "good friend" former colleague on the Democratic congressional delegation from California, CIA Chief Leon Panetta, turned against her. In a memo Panetta sent to CIA employees on Friday he writes: "CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of al Qaeda operative Abu Zubaydah, describing 'the enhanced techniques that had been employed"; and "There is a long tradition in Washington of making political hay out of our business, But the political debates about interrogation reached a new decibel level yesterday when the CIA was accused of misleading Congress."
Other CIA officials said on Pelosi's account of the briefing: "That's 180 degrees different from what the CIA's records show"
Pelosi tried to backpedal on Friday, saying that her accusations were against the misleading ways of the Bush administration rather than the CIA but no one is buying this new wrinkle in the Pelosi saga. Even Jay Leno is joking about her, saying: "Oh, and speaking of torture, I love this. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now says the CIA and President Bush misled her on waterboarding. Yeah. Apparently she was misled by the Bush Administration. So she spends eight years telling everybody how dumb President Bush is, and the minute she's in trouble, 'He fooled me! I had no idea! He tricked me!"...
Shame on you Nancy Pelosi. These people, at the CIA, serve America at great peril to themselves. RESIGN!!!

Introducing Congressman Mark Kirk

Pelosi should step down

Benedict Specter

The Obama administration launches an unprecedented public relations attack on Israel.

- Various media sources report that National Security Advisor James Jones told a European foreign minister that the US is planning to build an anti-Israel coalition with the Arabs and Europe to compel Israel to surrender Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem to the Palestinians. He then explained that the US, EU and moderate Arab states must determine what “a satisfactory endgame solution” will be. Insofar as Jones is concerned, Israel will be left out of these discussions and be presented with a fait accompli that the Obama administration will compel it to accept.
- Tony Blair, the Quartet mediator, announced, in interview with Palestinian reporters, that within six weeks the US, EU, UN and Russia will unveil a new framework for establishing a Palestinian state and that this is being worked at the highest level of the US administration.
- There is mounting evidence that the Obama administration is trying to let the Arabs write the plan for the “coalition”. Al-Quds al Arabi, a London-based Arab newspaper, reported last week that Jordan’s King Abdullah urged the Arab League to update the 2002 Arab Peace Plan, the same plan that calls for Israel to withdraw from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the Golan Heights and accept millions of foreign Arabs as citizens as part of the right of return of “Palestinian refugees” in return for normalization of relations between Israel and the Arab world. This same plan has been rejected by successive Israeli governments. The changes proposed by King Abdullah, after his meeting with Obama, were the removal of any reference to Palestinian refugees and a stronger definition of the relations between Israel and the Arab world. Egypt’s president, Hosni Mubarak hoped to present the changes to the plan to Obama during his visit to Washington later this month but Arab League General Secretary Amr Moussa, Fatah leader Mahmoud Abas and Syrian president basher Assad rejected the changes… However, the administration holds that Israel is the main obstacle to peace in the Middle East. VP Joe Biden used is appearance at the AIPAC conference last week to drive this point home. He said “Israel has to work toward a two-state solution. You’re not going to like me saying this, but not build more settlements, dismantle existing outposts and allow the Palestinian freedom of movement” – Israel’s national security interests notwithstanding…
- For Israel, the main event last week was the visit by President Shimon Peres in the White House. The Israeli government hoped the President Peres would be able to calm the US administration in advance of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to the White House next week. However, the Obama administration humiliated President Peres and Israel by barring media coverage of the event. The administration transformed what was planned to be a friendly visit with a respected and friendly head of state into a backdoor encounter with an unwanted guest who was shoed in and out of the White House without making waves.
- Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff, in his meeting last week with AIPAC leaders, actually blamed Israel for the Iranian nuclear crisis saying that Israel’s refusal to enter a peace agreement with the Palestinians makes it impossible for the Arab world to support international efforts against Iran.
- Last week, at a UN forum, US Assistant Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller said “Universal adherence to the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty) itself, including by India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea remains a fundamental objective of the United States”, breaking a 40-year old agreement that was signed between Israel's Prime Minister Golda Meir and US President Richard Nixon whereby the US will maintain silent about the Israeli nuclear program and protect it from the scrutiny of the international community. Israel agreed not to test its nuclear arsenal and not to use it for offensive purposes. Needless to say, placing Israel in the same bucket with North Korea and Pakistan provides further evidence of the direction of Obama’s relations with Israel.

Mecca on the west
After hosting Jordan’s King Abdullah and Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority, President Obama will host, this week, the president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari and the resident of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai. No wonder, after Obama’s heat-warming speech in Istanbul, Muslims consider the White House Mecca-on-the-west, hence the pilgrimage… The Chavez saga continues
After embarrassing President Obama in Trinidad, Chavez continues… The Washington Times reports that, on Friday, Hugo Chavez said that Obama must prove that he wants to improve ties with South American. “He says he’s here to make changes… This is not about speeches or smiles”… Being nice to Chavez is really paying off…
